Die Rolle

IGEL GmbH is seeking a bright, talented attorney to lead the legal and compliance function for IGELs headquarter in Bremen, Germany. We are looking for a Vice President Legal & Compliance – EMEA with experience in software business issues and transactions in EMEA. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in helping to scale a company with significant global growth. This role will require you to focus on enterprise commercial transactions and will involve extensive collaboration with members of IGEL’s sales, finance, operations, and executive teams as well as close partnership with your legal counterpart in the United States.

Verantwortlichkeiten

  • A Successful Candidate Will:
  • Have primary responsibility for negotiating, drafting and advising on all contracts, including software and hardware enterprise agreements and ancillary documentation related to sales deals for EMEA.
  • Represent IGEL GmbH legal interests for all worldwide transactions.
  • Collaborate closely with the IGEL U.S. legal counterpart to develop partnership and internal playbooks around all legal and compliance issues.
  • Collaborate closely with internal clients and key stakeholders (including the sales, sales operations, customer service, security, finance, IT and management teams) by providing legal advice on relevant legal topics for EMEA.
  • Negotiate and advise on customer and vendor privacy related agreements.
  • Gain in-depth product knowledge of all IGEL products and services.
  • Take the initiative to recommend and implement improvements to commercial policies, procedures, and standard form contracts.
  • Build strong relationships with U.S. legal and sales counterparts.
  • Lead a small team of professionals in the compliance, ISO and legal space.
  • Draft and implement group policies (e.g. on fair competition, gifts & entertainment, anti-bribery, anti-trust and corruption etc.).
  • Develop and deliver the Legal & Compliance strategy of the department, aligning with key stakeholders.
  • Hold a high level of responsibility, autonomy and strategic overview and will play a crucial role in further strengthening the position of Legal & Compliance in the Group.
  • Be a member and contribute to relevant steering committees and regularly update and present to the Executive Leadership Team on relevant subjects.

Qualifikationen

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in a top-tier law firm and/or in-house in a technology company.
  • Law degree from a reputable institution with a strong academic record.
  • German Law degree required, with 2 State exams = “Volljurist/-in”
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting and communication skills with the ability to foster relationships and collaborate with internal clients.
  • Strong general commercial contracting background with experience in negotiating and drafting enterprise software contracts in EMEA.
  • Experience with enterprise software transactions in the United States is preferred.
  • Experience with and a demonstrated ability to negotiate data-privacy related agreements. Ability to give succinct, commercially driven legal advice.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage an existing team and potentially further develop and grow the function
  • Works well autonomously and in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Comfortable collaborating closely with both in-person and remote stakeholders.
  • Experience in Enterprise Compliance would be helpful.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
