A Smarter, Zero Trust Approach to Endpoints

A Smarter, Zero Trust Approach to Endpoints

Today at Now & Next 2026, IGEL announced Contextual Access, a major step forward in endpoint computing management and resilience. This represents a fundamental shift in the role of the endpoint and a model designed for the complexity of modern IT and OT environments.

IGEL Contextual Access™ advances the platform’s ability to deliver the Adaptive Secure Desktop™, starting with persona-based context today and expanding to broader conditional context over time. In addition to being  immutable, secure, and centrally managed, the endpoint becomes intelligent and responsive. Contextual access enables the endpoint to continuously adapt based on who the user is, what device is being used, where the session is taking place, and the current trust conditions. At its core, this powers an Adaptive Secure Desktop that dynamically responds to the full context of work, bringing together security, simplicity, and control, fully aligned with zero trust principles.

A Layered Approach to Modern Endpoints

IGEL’s innovation is built on four intelligent layers that work together to continuously adapt and secure the endpoint experience:

  1. Device-Based Policy Layer
The foundation starts with device-level control. IT teams define policies based on device attributes or location, ensuring every endpoint is configured consistently—whether it’s in finance, healthcare, or on the shop floor. This delivers the scalability and reliability organizations depend on.
  2. Persona-Based Layer
With persona-based configuration the focus shifts to the user, each login delivers a personalized, role-specific workspace. Whether it’s a nurse, doctor, or knowledge worker, users get instant access to the apps and resources they need—while IT simplifies management by controlling personas instead of individual devices.
  3.  Conditional Policy Layer
This layer introduces real-time adaptability based on compliance and risk. By integrating with tools like Cisco ISE or Forescout, IGEL evaluates device trust continuously and adjusts access dynamically. This ensures users only receive the access they need—when they need it—reinforcing zero trust and least privilege.
  4. Context-Based Enforcement
Finally, everything comes together. By combining device, persona, and compliance signals—enhanced with IGEL Insights telemetry—the system continuously evaluates full context. Policies can shift instantly, access can be restricted or expanded, and risk is mitigated in real time.

The Future of Endpoint Computing

With Contextual Access, IGEL redefines the endpoint as adaptive, context-aware, and continuously secure. This fundamental shift from static configurations deliveries the right experience, at the right time, under the right conditions. For organizations embracing zero trust, this provides a blueprint for a desktop that evolves with context while maintaining the smallest possible attack surface.
